In this Blue Vortex chapter, Sarada finally wields the Mangekyō Sharingan she never realized she had, cutting down Ryū before the power leaves her spent. Meanwhile the mounting cost of the plan weighs on those steering it, and Boruto defies orders to save Konohamaru.
Sarada reflects on past talks with her friends about her ambition to reach Hokage and the feelings for Boruto she keeps buried. A memory surfaces of the time just after Boruto left Konohagakure, when he asked Sasuke about the Mangekyō Sharingan. Sasuke laid out its nature, already aware that Sarada had awakened hers without knowing it and confident she would master the gift once the moment came.
Drawing on her new power, Sarada faces Ryū with icy composure and defeats him as Mitsuki looks on. The strain proves severe, and she crumples, caught by Mitsuki, who sees just how badly the technique drains her.
At a distance, Koji Kashin and Ada trade words, pleased by Sarada's breakthrough yet troubled that it came at the price of Yodo's death. Pressed by Boruto over whether every success in their scheme must cost a life, Koji deflects and orders him to stay put, since Jura has marked Boruto as a target. Boruto ignores the warning and moves to pull Konohamaru free of Matsuri, drawing Jura's gaze onto himself in the process.
