A half-transformed Gaara presses Sasuke hard, framing their clash as a test of who truly deserves to live. For Gaara, killing is the only proof that he exists; for Sasuke, survival is the only road to the revenge that defines him.
Now partly warped by his beast, Gaara comes at Sasuke with blows the Uchiha can barely evade. Sasuke recalls an earlier meeting in which Gaara spelled out why the boy fascinated him. In Gaara's eyes, Sasuke has tasted genuine loss and isolation and now hunts power, the very same forces that shaped Gaara himself.
Reasoning that they are two of a kind, Gaara concludes that slaying Sasuke would prove his own superiority and let him feel truly alive. Refusing to hand Gaara that satisfaction, and set on surviving so he can one day kill his brother Itachi, Sasuke drives a Chidori straight at him.

Naruto built the transformation jutsu himself, and the Hidden Leaf has been quietly not talking about it ever since. The story behind our 90s R&B record about the Naruko question everybody dodges....
