Personality

Cruel and self-serving, Bacca will do whatever it takes to get what he wants, yet in his own mind he has never wronged anyone, since he simply acts on his personal creed of "freedom." He has caused trouble since boyhood and racked up a long list of crimes, showing no hesitation about leveling his own hometown, killing its people, or harming his own father if it serves his ends.

Abilities

Bacca is a powerful, capable fighter who twice dropped the scientist Wolf with a single strike, a feat Law's whole group could not manage even four against one. His movements are not especially quick, but his reactions and tactical thinking are sharp enough that he outmaneuvered the faster Law, baiting him with a feint and snapping his blade. He fights with a mace in each hand and wields them expertly. His power comes from the Dero Dero no Mi, a Paramecia fruit that lets him melt himself into liquid and also dissolve the will of others to seize control of them.

Born and raised on Swallow Island, Bacca left to become a pirate twenty-five years before the novel, with his father tagging along to rein in his temper. He ate the Dero Dero no Mi within five years, and twelve years before the story returned to ravage the island's Pleasure Town, horrifying Wolf, who stayed behind as Bacca sailed on. After a failed push toward the Grand Line cost half his crew their lives, he limped back to the North Blue and resolved to raid Swallow Island once more, drawn by signs of Captain Ladoga's treasure there.
