Appearance

A broad, muscular figure, Barricade has a large square jaw set with a pronounced underbite and two bottom teeth that jut out. His uniform consists of a dark green suit worn over a black button-up shirt, finished with a slim blue tie, black gloves, and the standard Marine coat across his shoulders.

Personality

Discretion is not among his talents. Barricade routinely blurts out his thoughts and cannot hold a secret, which grates on the officers under him. For all his rank he comes across as faintly absurd, refusing to own his blunders and instead pinning them on imagined powers of his foes. Even so, as a Marine he genuinely holds to his idea of justice.

History

Stationed at Enies Lobby, Barricade was given charge of the keys that open the island's Underground Passage. He kept one key on his person, tucked a second inside the pantry fireplace, and entrusted a third to Chujo. When the Straw Hats slipped onto the island during One Piece Odyssey, he joined the hunt for them and rushed to the Underground Passage after a soldier spotted the intruders. He challenged the pirates and was quickly beaten, then proceeded to undermine himself: he boasted they could not pass without the key, only for Nami to reveal she had pickpocketed it, then let slip that three keys were needed, and finally panicked and pointed them toward the pantry. Baffled by how they kept learning his secrets, he concluded they must possess a mind-reading Devil Fruit. In a later Memoria recreation where the Whitebeard Pirates struck Enies Lobby, he again gave away that an Admiral lay in wait below before being swiftly defeated. He carries a reputation for defending key locations with a bold style, fights as a competent swordsman wielding a broadsword, and commands all lower-ranking Marines beneath him.
