Bear King leads the Trump Pirates and stands as the eldest of the Trump Siblings who seized Clockwork Island. As the main villain of the second One Piece movie, he wields the Kachi Kachi no Mi and the devastating King Cannon in his bid to become Pirate King.
A heavyset figure crowned by a large teddy bear hat, Bear King sports black hair and whiskers and dresses to match the playing-card and animal motifs of his crew. His furred captain's jacket carries a golden spade collar, and the partly unbuttoned blue shirt beneath it bears clover, heart, and diamond symbols. Hair coats his comparatively slim arms and chest, with fur bands wrapped around each wrist.
As the crew's captain, Bear King holds total command over every member, the other Trump Siblings included. His bounty of 11,600,000 Berries marks him as one of the East Blue's mightier pirates, since any figure above ten million is considered notable in that sea. He devoured the Kachi Kachi no Mi, a Paramecia fruit that turns his body stone-hard to boost both his defense and the force of his blows, and lets him superheat his fists to scorch whatever he touches.
His pride and joy is the King Cannon, a weapon he compelled Clockwork Island's scientists to construct. It launches drilling shells powerful enough to whip up massive waves, and he meant to ride it all the way to the title of Pirate King. He also keeps a screw-barreled handgun that fires exploding, boring rounds.
Seven years before the story, Bear King and his crew overran Clockwork Island, took control of the island's central key, and forced the locals to build the King Cannon. A tyrant to the core, he kept the terrified scientists working by threatening to shatter that key, an act that would destroy the entire island. When Honey Queen and Boo Jack delivered Nami to him as a gift, he was instantly smitten and demanded she marry him, brushing aside every refusal and even vowing to shave off his hair when she mocked it.
Learning that Nami doubted he could beat her friend Luffy, Bear King resolved to capture the rookie and put his bounty toward their wedding. As his siblings hauled in Sanji, Usopp, and Zoro one by one, his temper flared, and he ordered prisoners crucified or executed whenever Nami showed them concern. He finally prepared to test the completed King Cannon on the captives, only for Borodo to block the shot by raising a wall and brandishing dynamite. Bear King dared him to light it, then beat him savagely against the steel, until Luffy crashed through the floor and lit the fuse himself.
The clash that followed saw Bear King shrug off Luffy's Gomu Gomu no Gatling thanks to his stone body and seize the advantage with his Hot Boiling Special. The tide turned when he cruelly mocked Akisu for taking a bullet meant for Borodo; enraged, Luffy hoisted him by his burning arm and hurled him across the room, then caught the giant King Cannon shell and drilled it into him with Gomu Gomu no Neji, sending Bear King plunging to the island's core as Clockwork Island collapsed.
He survived but, undeterred, resumed hunting for a bride. On the Nanatsu Islands he spotted Alvida, rushed to propose, and slipped the instant he touched her smooth skin, cracking his head on a rock. Hospitalized in Rokugo Village, he was found by the Straw Hats, who alerted Honey Queen, and she collected him before the two departed.
