Buzz

Buzz is a thickset dog covered in orange fur, his bulky body propped on slender legs. A permanently mournful look sits on his broad face, marked by a scar over the right brow, and his nose is blue. Both his ears and his thin tongue are extraordinarily long, the ears trailing all the way to the floor. An ornate pair of goggles rings his neck, worn in place of a collar.

Obedience defines Buzz, who carried out his master's command to steal the straw hat and pressed on through a Marine fleet, a swarm of Sea Kings, and a direct clash with Luffy across a volcanic landscape and a naval base to see it done.

Even in old age Buzz keeps enough power to trade blows with Luffy briefly. He has eaten the Eagle-model Tori Tori no Mi, a Zoan-class Devil Fruit that lets him turn into an eagle or a dog-eagle hybrid, sharpening his senses and reflexes with an eagle's and granting flight. He can also enlarge these forms, beginning at a normal eagle's size before swelling to many times Luffy's bulk. His history is closely tied to that of his master, captain Schneider, whom he refused to abandon. To drive the dog off, an ailing Schneider set what he thought an impossible task: locate the nearby Straw Hats and swipe Luffy's prized straw hat. Buzz pulled it off that very night, flying to the Thousand Sunny and lifting the hat as the crew slept, which sparked a sprawling chase across icebergs, warship formations, a waterfall, and a Sea King nest before he and Luffy crashed into a Marine shipyard and were caged in seastone. The Straw Hats and a remorseful Schneider freed them, Buzz helped recover the hat, and the dog later reappears beside his master among the crowds at the Pirates Festival.
