Appearance

Sporting brown hair framed by thick muttonchop sideburns, Drake dresses in a blue suit topped with a Marine cap, and he lets an overcoat hang loosely from his shoulders. One quirk of his face stands out: the left corner of his mouth tends to curl upward even while the rest of his features hold a frown. The brim of his cap also keeps his eyes lost in shadow no matter the angle from which he is viewed.

History

Drake's earliest appearance comes in the fourth feature film, where he and his subordinates trail the Going Merry until a sudden storm breaks up the pursuit. A call from headquarters informs him that pirates are massing nearby for the Dead End Race, and his orders are to keep scouting the region, with particular attention paid to Gasparde. By the film's close he waits at Partia, certain the crew will surface there, and he resumes the hunt. That chase carries over into the fifth movie as well. Later, at the Navarone base, he recognizes the Going Merry as a ship he has already crossed paths with twice. Vice Admiral Jonathan puts him to work staging ambushes and assigns him to inspect the freshly captured Zoro. On learning that a mysterious physician is treating storm-injured Marines, he suspects a Straw Hat in disguise and heads to the operating room to interrogate Dr. Kobato, though the surgery underway prevents any questioning. Word of a wandering new recruit then sends him to the harbor, where his probing questions trip up Usopp and expose him as one of the pirates. He hauls Usopp before Jonathan, and for a spell the sniper is even mistaken for a Headquarters inspector. Drake later arranges a trap meant to snare Sanji and Luffy, but the scheme collapses and the two free Zoro and Usopp. In the anime he also turns up at Marineford alongside Jonathan when Ace's execution is declared.
