Personality
Down-to-earth and forthright, Ipponume says exactly what she means. She wanted nothing to do with the Sandai Kitetsu and disliked the cursed weapon, and although she shares a warm marriage with Ipponmatsu, who dotes on her, she still regards him as a cheapskate.
History
When Zoro visited the shop and her husband balked at selling the Sandai Kitetsu, Ipponume cuffed Ipponmatsu across the back of the head and ordered him to let the cursed blade go. After he then gave away the Yubashiri for nothing, she scolded him for handing off the store's prized swords and sent him off to scrub the bathroom. Two years on, she stood by while he cleaned that same bathroom and boasted about the poster of Zoro hanging there. The 4Kids dub recast her as Ipponmatsu's mother rather than his wife, and in the Funimation dub she omits the detail that Yubashiri was the family heirloom.
