Kinga stands fairly tall, his brown hair jutting up into the air and a thin mustache on his lip, and he wears a blue shirt left open at the front. The anime version drops the mustache. Pictured thirty years in the past, he appears younger with his hair likewise swept straight upward and clad in a dark-yellow kimono, echoing the Japanese-style garb and sword featured in his concept artwork.

Almost nothing of his character has been shown, save that he stood ready to put himself at risk in the bid to save Ace.
History
Reaching back some thirty years, Kinga was still a rank-and-file member of the Whitebeard Pirates, cheering when Momonosuke was born and weighing in on the crew's talks about splitting into divisions. He later struck out on his own, earning a dreaded name across the New World while keeping his crew bound in service to Whitebeard. With Ace's execution looming at Marineford, Kinga led his crew to stand with the Whitebeard forces in the rescue, registering the same shock as the rest when Garp cut off Luffy's path to Ace. A figure strongly resembling his concept art shows up during the war, but the Vivre Card databook later established that the genuine Kinga wears a different design.
