Kirin Lion

Towering over the creatures he once ruled, Kirin Lion blends the build of a lion with the mythical qilin. His coat carries an orange tone, and a pair of broad, gold-plated horns rise from the top of his head. Those horns are the feature tied to the legend that surrounds him.

Kirin Lion is remembered as a gentle and protective sovereign. When a shipwrecked human boy named Mobanby arrived on his shores, the beast king chose to shelter the child and bring him up as if he were his own. That act of compassion defined how the inhabitants and Mobanby saw him.

Kirin Lion held authority over the whole of O-Kan Island as its animal king. After Mobanby washed up on the island, the beast personally tended the boy back to health, even licking his wounds clean, and Mobanby came to view him as a father. Kirin Lion had already passed away before the events of the film began.

His golden horns survived him, carrying the legend that whoever consumed them would gain immense power, transforming into a beast with the same horns growing from their own skull. Late in the movie, Battler located and ate the horns, becoming a fearsome monster. Luffy and Chopper brought him down by shattering the horns, stripping away the borrowed strength. Mobanby then inherited the role of ruler over the island.
