Kotatsu

Roughly the bulk of a full-grown panther, Kotatsu is a lynx far larger than any ordinary one. His spine arches into a noticeable hunch, his legs run lean and spindly, and a dark belt is fastened around him.

During his days as a captive curiosity, the lynx was a timid creature, easily frightened. Time among his crewmates steadily emboldened him. He clings to Ace partly for the comfort of the warmth thrown off by the Mera Mera no Mi. Among the others he holds a quiet regard for Masked Deuce, the one shipmate who never mocked Deuce's clumsy handwriting.

Snatched by poachers and displayed as a sideshow oddity, Kotatsu was cut loose from a trap by Ace and chose to travel at the pirate's side as he built his name. He joined his crewmates in beating back bounty hunters, and when the Marine Isuka slipped aboard their vessel he helped corner her, though she shrugged the group off without trouble. The crew then reached the Sabaody Archipelago, where the lynx wandered the island and secretly leafed through Deuce's journal while their ship was being coated.

From Sabaody the Spades dropped to Fish-Man Island and pressed on toward the New World. A wreck later stranded them in Wano Country, where the starving folk of Amigasa Village tied them up and took their provisions; rather than retaliate, Ace asked where dessert could be found, and the crew lingered for weeks, befriending Tama. They also raided Onigashima to free abducted children, never crossing paths with Kaidou, who was away. Once Ace and Jinbe fought to a draw, Kotatsu and the rest stood against Edward Newgate, lost, and were absorbed into the Whitebeard Pirates alongside their captain.
