Appearance

Long-limbed and notably tall, Leonero is defined first by his oversized rounded jaw, with pointed ears framing his head. His usual getup pairs a pinstriped jumpsuit with pale footwear, finished off by a top hat and tinted glasses. During the crew's stay in Wano Country, he swapped that look for a darker formal suit.

Personality

Loyalty to his captain runs deep in Leonero, who stood ready to shield Ace even from a figure as fearsome as Edward Newgate. A less flattering streak shows up too. He joined his crewmates in mocking Masked Deuce's adventure journal, treating the writing as a joke despite it being Deuce's cherished record of their voyage. That ridicule earned him a place among the names Deuce deliberately left out of the diary.

History

Signing on with the Spade Pirates, Leonero traveled alongside Ace as the captain built his reputation. He helped repel a band of bounty hunters and, when the Marine officer Isuka slipped aboard, he and the others cornered her, only for her to shrug them off. The crew later reached Sabaody Archipelago, where, while their ship was being coated, the men snuck looks at Deuce's diary and laughed. Once coated, they sailed down to Fish-Man Island and onward into the New World. A shipwreck stranded them in Wano, where starving villagers from Amigasa tied them up and took their food. Rather than retaliate, Ace befriended the locals, and the crew grew close to Tama before raiding Onigashima to free captive children. When Ace fought Whitebeard to a draw against Jinbe and then faced the Emperor, Leonero and his comrades defended their captain, were swiftly beaten, and were taken in as Whitebeard Pirates. He has not appeared since.
