Inside the undersea prison Impel Down, few names carry more menace than Magellan. this towering, devil-like jailer wields the poison of the Doku Doku no Mi and once ran the entire fortress before a historic mass escape cost him his rank. He stands as the dominant antagonist of the Impel Down Arc.
Standing roughly three times the height of an ordinary person, Magellan cuts an imposing, demonic figure. His face recalls a mandrill, framed by a thick beard and set with jagged teeth, while his fingers resemble those of the Blue Gorillas. Bat-like wings sprout from his back and horn ornaments crown his head, the latter detachable for use as weapons, and beneath them sits short black hair styled in twin tails. Rather than the white uniform of ordinary guards, he dresses in a black suit over a red shirt with a coil of rope draped across one shoulder, plus the standard Impel Down cap. Following the time skip, scarring marks the left half of his face, and his left wing and a horn have been patched using sheet metal.
His most notorious quirk grows out of his taste for poisoned meals, which leave him crippled by diarrhea for some ten hours each day despite his complete immunity to toxins; even so, he refuses to give them up. Magellan treats his duties with grave seriousness and has no patience for unruly inmates, drenching offenders in his lethal Hydra whenever they provoke him, since he is permitted to execute any prisoner he chooses. He guards the jail's reputation for being inescapable with fierce pride and felt personally insulted when Luffy first breached it. For all his comic foolishness, such as going weak-kneed over Boa Hancock, he is a deadly serious combatant who never toys with a foe, and his harshness extends even to his own staff. He will not pardon abuse of authority, having jailed Shiryu for slaughtering prisoners for sport.
Magellan swallowed the Doku Doku no Mi as a child, a power that killed a flower he was tending. Two decades before the main story, while still vice warden, he reported the unprecedented escape of Shiki, who had sliced through his own shackled legs to get out. Later he stripped his colleague Shiryu of rank and sentenced him to Level 6 for murdering inmates. During the Impel Down Arc he intercepted the intruding Luffy and beat him with his poison after a brutal exchange. When the mass breakout erupted, he flooded the prison with toxin and battled the Blackbeard Pirates, Ivankov, and Inazuma, yet the prisoners escaped by sea, leaving him to vent his fury on Bentham. Beaten near to death after Blackbeard's crew freed the Level 6 convicts, he was afterward demoted, with Hannyabal installed as the new chief warden.

When I first decided to commit to watching One Piece seriously, I knew I was embarking on one of anime's longest and most beloved series. With over 100...

The transformation everyone knows, the follow-up question nobody would touch. Why we made a smooth R&B track about the golden glow Dragon Ball never talks about....
