Shaggy blonde hair sits beneath a brown cap, paired with brown eyebrows, a long slender nose, and round eyes. Roger stands at an ordinary height, though his shoulders are noticeably muscular. For clothing he favors a tan tank top, brown trousers, and a dark brown sash wrapped at his waist. A green scarf and brown footwear round out the outfit.

Considerate and quick to assist, Roger looked out for Luffy by flagging the poor visibility around Spa Island and urging him to steer clear of any brawls. He has a verbal quirk too, replying with roger that when handed a task and muttering roger what whenever something leaves him puzzled.

Hoping to satisfy Tama's request for the Phantom Remedy, Luffy hired Roger to carry him over to Spa Island. Once they landed, Luffy wondered how to transport the hot spring water, and the ferryman recommended hunting down a bottle. With the water collected, the pair returned together to Sogyoku Town.

Roger ended up making the same crossing for Luffy three more times. With each repeat journey, his bewilderment grew that the trips kept being about fetching more water.
