Appearance

Saber is a muscular man of ordinary build with lightly tanned skin, lengthy legs, and long brown hair, finished by a short, scruffy beard. His outfit pairs a blue-gray jacket bearing a pale band on the arm with gray trousers cropped above the ankles and light boots. He rounds it out with headphones, a brown belt bearing a circular emblem, and a cream-colored hat stamped with a red cross-shaped emblem. Concept art gives him a sharper chin, longer hair, and tighter features, including a small nose, narrow eyes set close, and a broad mouth with thin lips.

Personality

Saber holds his captain in deep regard, going so far as to shield Ace from Edward Newgate himself. He knows something of the pirate world, recognizing Jinbe and the weight of his name. A streak of irreverence runs through him too, since he mocked Deuce's adventure diary even though chronicling their voyages was Deuce's great ambition.

History

Saber signed on with the Spade Pirates and roamed alongside Ace as the young captain built his name. He helped drive off a band of bounty hunters, and when the Marine ensign Isuka slipped aboard the ship, he and his crewmates cornered her, only for her to brush them off with ease. The crew afterward reached Sabaody Archipelago, where, while the vessel was coated, Saber and the others wandered the island and quietly read Deuce's diary, laughing at the writing and so earning the omission of their names from it. The Spade Pirates were later wrecked at Wano Country, tied up by the starving people of Amigasa Village who seized their food, before breaking loose and befriending Tama over a few weeks' stay. When Ace fought Jinbe, Saber cautioned him about the fish-man's strength, and after the duel ended in a draw, he joined the crew in defending Ace against Newgate. Overpowered, the Spade Pirates were taken in by the Whitebeard Pirates along with their captain, and Saber has made no appearance since.
