Scales is a Sea King, one of six that answered Shirahoshi's call when she awakened the full power of Poseidon. Its non-canon name comes from the anime credits and the One Piece Card Game.
Scales takes the form of a huge eel-like Sea King. Its entire body is blue and sheathed in scales, with a pale green beard tucked beneath the chin and a pair of great tusks jutting from its mouth. Partway down its back sit two fins, and a long dorsal fin runs the length of its body.
Much like the other Sea Kings, Scales honors Poseidon, the form of Shirahoshi, as its queen and heeds her summons. It also holds the ship Noah in high regard, stepping in to keep Luffy from wrecking it as it waits for the foretold day when the vessel will finally be needed.
