Tamachibi

Tamachibi is a small, tan-skinned boy with big black eyes and slightly tousled brown hair. In the manga he wears a white jacket trimmed with blue fur at the collar and cuffs, army green pants, and brown boots. The anime swaps this for a gold coat lined in white fur.

Being so young, Tamachibi cannot hold back his pain even as his father and the restaurant patrons urge him to stop crying. He proves a grateful child all the same, thanking Kureha warmly once she relieves his suffering.

While his father worked the restaurant floor, Tamachibi wept loudly enough that the customers complained about the racket. His father could get no answer about what was wrong and finally threatened to put him outside, words overheard by Dr. Kureha as she passed by. She broke down the door and took charge of the boy. Laid on a table, Tamachibi explained that his hands hurt, and when Kureha pressed his legs he howled, leading her to diagnose pyogenic inflammation of the bone in his infected limbs. With no anesthetic on hand, Chopper knocked him out for the operation, to his father's horror. Kureha then demanded half of the restaurant's assets as payment, drawing protests from the customers, but when Tamachibi woke up feeling far better and thanked her, his father agreed to pay in full.
