Summary

At Mary Geoise, two Marines find their bodies moving against their will, forced toward killing each other by Doflamingo. Vice Admiral Tsuru orders him to stop, and Sengoku enters, bluntly branding Doflamingo as sea scum, a remark Kuma agrees lands perfectly. Surprised that two of the six remaining Warlords showed up, Sengoku opens the gathering called to settle Crocodile's replacement. Mihawk then arrives, the least expected guest, insisting he attends merely as an onlooker because the pirates under discussion interest him. The proceedings are interrupted again by a silhouetted figure who likewise claims observer status yet wishes to participate.

Key Events

Tsuru identifies the newcomer as Laffitte, a brutal former lawman banished from West Blue, who puts forward his captain's name for the open Warlord seat. Far away on the Grand Line, the rookie Rockstar boards Whitebeard's ship bearing a letter from his captain Shanks. Whitebeard tears it up, offended that Shanks did not come in person, and demands he visit himself with plenty of good rum. Speaking by Den Den Mushi, Shanks laughs that the old man has not changed, denies Rockstar a chance at revenge, and tells Benn Beckman the crew should prepare for battle.

Notes

Laffitte names Teach for nomination, and though the council dismisses an unknown as worthless, he urges them to remember the Blackbeard Pirates. In Mock Town, Teach's crew makes its move when Sarquiss bumps into him, and Teach slams the man's head into the ground, revealing they have been waiting to chase someone worth 100 million. The chapter formally introduces Kuma and Doflamingo with their former bounties, Sengoku and Tsuru, Laffitte, Rockstar, and Whitebeard, and confirms the man Luffy met in Mock Town is Blackbeard, who ransacked Drum Island and is Ace's quarry. The cover is an Animal Theater scene of Usopp spearfishing alongside a whale, and the chapter belongs to the Jaya Arc.
