Summary

Back at the mansion, Kuro sits on the steps growing testy as his old crew fails to show in the village. Picturing the wounded servant Merry sprawled in a slashed-up room, he mutters that tardiness will cost them their lives and sets off to find them. On the slope, Jango stands over his beaten crew, marveling that children bested them. To turn the tide, he hypnotizes the pirates into believing their wounds are healed and their strength multiplied, one man proving it by shattering a cliff face with a single punch.

Key Events

When Jango sends the empowered crew at the Straw Hats, Zoro realizes in disbelief that Luffy was caught in the same trance. Driven into a blind rage, Luffy hurls the Black Cat Pirates back with Gomu Gomu no Gatling Gun, then tears the figurehead from their ship intending to club the whole crew with it. Jango quickly hypnotizes him into sleep, and Luffy drops the bow onto himself and several pirates, the prow barely sparing Jango. As Nami, Zoro, and Usopp start to celebrate, Jango warns his men they still face Kuro's fury. Zoro reassures the others Luffy lives, but two new voices ring out from the ship, noticing the missing stern, and Jango names them the Nyaban Brothers.
