Summary

Inside the palace, Zoro, Nami, Usopp, and Brook bicker after binding King Neptune, both ministers, and all the guards, only to notice Luffy has vanished. Nami pries the treasury's location from a captive while the others fret over their next move. The Minister of the Right warns that the princes will not let them off easily and laments that the castle, normally flooded to give the guards an edge, had been drained. The crew agrees they cannot linger on the island, but their Log Pose has not yet fixed on a new destination, and the Left Minister hints that reaching the New World takes more than an ordinary Log Pose.

The three princes arrive at the gate and quickly sense trouble inside. Speaking through a Den Den Mushi, Zoro refuses to open the doors and lays out demands, treating the king and his court as hostages in exchange for the crew's swift departure and the gathering of their scattered members. Fukaboshi reluctantly accepts, then reveals he carries two messages entrusted to him by Jinbe for the pirates: do not fight Hody, and wait in the Sea Forest. Zoro, puzzled, agrees to pass them to Luffy. Elsewhere, Chopper debuts his Kung Fu Point against guards at the Mermaid Cafe, and Sanji resolves to reach the palace and the Mermaid Princess even at the cost of his life.

With Shirahoshi, Luffy works to coax her outside, insisting he would lose his mind cooped up for ten years and offering it as thanks for the feast. She finally admits she longs to see the Sea Forest but fears the danger. When a weapon thrown by Vander Decken strikes the tower, an alarmed Neptune orders the Straw Hats to guard his daughter, and Brook hurries off carrying the Minister of the Right. Luffy hides Shirahoshi inside Megalo's mouth and, riding the shark's head in a coating of bubbles, smashes through the tower doors past the invading pirates, shouting that they are bound for the Sea Forest as a stunned Brook and minister look on.

Key Events

Foosha Village's residents make their first post-timeskip appearance, and Makino now has a child born sometime during those two years, with the father's identity unrevealed. King Neptune, both ministers, and the royal guards are defeated, bound, and unintentionally held hostage as the crew accidentally seizes Ryugu Palace. Jinbe's two messages, do not fight Hody and wait in the Sea Forest, are relayed. Chopper unveils his Kung Fu Point, Sanji vows to meet the princess, and Vander Decken IX assaults the palace by flinging human pirates at it. After a full decade of confinement, Shirahoshi at last leaves her tower, tucked inside Megalo's mouth.

Notes

Navigating into and across the New World turns out to require a tool beyond the standard Log Pose, and the palace itself sits behind layers of impenetrable bubbles. The way Luffy treats Shirahoshi, calling her a weakling and scolding her crying, mirrors how Ace once treated him in childhood. In the Jump printing, Neptune cites Zoro's bounty as 160,000,000 Berries, later corrected as a printing error in Volume 62.
