Overview

Credited to Eiichiro Oda and put out by Seven Eleven, the volume pulls together behind-the-scenes material spanning both the Episode 0 short and the theatrical feature One Piece Film: Gold. Every page apart from the storyboard section is reproduced in full color.

Among its interviews are members of the production team, including Luffy's veteran voice performer Mayumi Tanaka and the movie's director, Hiroaki Miyamoto.

Plot

The book carries no narrative of its own and is instead laid out as a set of themed chapters. It opens with a film collection and a section on the characters before moving into the complete storyboard for the Episode 0 short.

The closing chapters hold the special interviews and a film preview, the latter capped by a diagram charting the relationships among the Film Gold cast.

Reception

No retail sale of the book ever took place. It was distributed at no cost as a promotional freebie through selected Japanese outlets of the 7-Eleven convenience store chain.

Securing a copy meant a shopper had to purchase at least five sandwiches in one go, and every taking-part store kept only about seventy on hand, which left the item genuinely scarce for collectors.
