A red long-sleeved turtleneck sits under the black school uniform he wears loosely draped over his shoulders, paired with baggy black trousers in classic delinquent fashion. His hair is black and swept up into a pompadour, and his dark, sharp eyes hint at the short fuse behind them. For all his tough presentation, he is still a teenager.

Metal Bat brims with self-assurance, declaring that he does not care whether a foe rates as Demon or Dragon level. He is hot-headed and acts before thinking, smashing one of Melzargard's marbles without pausing to consider its purpose and squaring up to Sweet Mask over an insult. Yet all that swagger softens around his little sister Zenko, whom he dotes on and refuses to expose to violence, even holding back against Garou while she watches. He shows the same tenderness toward his cat Tama. Ranks mean nothing to him, and he tends to finish enemies faster than he intends, once killing off monsters before he can ask their motives. Beneath the rough edges he is quietly perceptive, quick to spot weaknesses others miss. After the Monster Association war he stages a resignation to slip inside the Neo Heroes as a bodyguard for Sekingar, working undercover at Sitch's request.

Even at his modest rank, Metal Bat stands among the Association's most fearsome close-range fighters. A single swing of his metal bat can end Demon-level monsters, and he once stopped a charging Elder Centipede in its tracks, though its armor resisted him. His central gift is Fighting Spirit, a state in which pain and mounting rage pour straight into his power. The longer a battle drags on, the tougher, faster, and stronger he becomes, until he can rip the ground apart and level buildings with a swing. Garou admitted that one clean hit from the bat would have cost him the fight, and with enough spirit built up, Metal Bat and a monsterized Garou together cracked the shell of Sage Centipede, a hide even sturdier than Elder Centipede's.

His durability and endurance climb alongside his fury, letting him keep swinging through heavy bleeding and broken bones, though the boost drains quickly once he leaves combat and eventually gives out under overwhelming damage. His unbreakable will also guards his mind, so he shrugs off mind-altering gas, cracking himself on the forehead with the bat to snap free of Rafflesidon's fumes. Murata notes he is slower than Sonic, but his reflexes still let him parry Garou's flurry while injured. He fights like a brawler with no formal polish, yet the simplicity works, and he has named finishers built for the kill, among them Dragon Thrashing, the whirling Savage Tornado with its stronger Savage Hurricane variant, and the vertical Spiral of Overwhelming Victory. His bat was forged unbreakable at his own request when he joined the S-Class, and as a Neo Hero he later dons a battle suit that reads his nervous system to amplify his movements.
