Benpatsu

Lean of frame, Benpatsu pulls his dark hair up into a high braid and wears a thin mustache over a black gi. Becoming a monster changes little about him, tacking on a third eye and sharpened teeth while veins pulse steadily across his skin.

Benpatsu is an arrogant sort who sneers at heroes such as Sneck and has no scruples about cheating mid-fight, once faking a pause only to land a cheap hit. Beneath the swagger he is a coward, bolting to save his own skin when Mysterious Beings storm the stadium and finally choking down a monster cell for that very reason. The transformation lends him nerve but leaves him wildly reckless, flinging himself at Suiryu despite the yawning gap in power while scoffing that the hero's brand of justice counts for nothing.

Benpatsu signs up for the Super Fight tournament inside the C-City Super Stadium, his first time in the event, and is left stunned watching Suiryu flatten Max without effort. Matched against Sneck, he taunts the hero over his low rank, throws a punch, and has it turned right back on him, crumpling to the floor beaten. Once Mysterious Beings overrun the stadium, he tries to sneak off, but Gouketsu catches him and pitches him back into the ring, then lays down an ultimatum: either he eats a monster cell and enlists in the Monster Association, or he dies. He gulps one down, thrilled by the power it grants, only for Suiryu to drop him with a lone kick to the neck and then swing his body like a club to drive Volten into the ground. Tellingly, he holds onto his ego through the change, unlike Hamukichi.

Everything he does traces back to the Harsh Path Style, yet he never impresses; a plain human, he was hopeless against the A-Class Sneck, and monsterhood barely adds to his meager power. Among his moves is the Fake-Out Punch, a direct shot at the face that never actually landed in a fight. The side story Lobster captures the tone of his gang, as the Harsh Path Clan barges into Bang's dojo to confront him, only to walk in on Saitama, Genos, and Charanko sharing hot pot; Saitama then wallops the whole bunch, leaving only Benpatsu standing right as Bang returns and pins the wrecked dojo on him.
