Bug God

Bug God stands about as tall as Superalloy Darkshine and carries a thick, muscled frame sheathed in a hard shell. His skin runs mostly green and bristles with insect features: a cluster of five lime-colored eyes, a pair of antennae, and both large and small pincers ringing a mouth full of jagged teeth. Oddly enough, a broad, rounded human nose sits in the middle of that predatory face.

When he shifts into his combat form, he swells in size, unfolds two additional pairs of arms, and spreads a set of wings that had been folded away. Dark spikes push out along his shoulders and knees, his body deepens in color, and his eyes turn black at their centers while the rings around them blaze with light, glowing red in the anime version.

Utterly sure of his own strength, Bug God assumes he outclasses Darkshine and can put the hero down without effort. He shares the cruelty common to monsters, sneering that he will grind the hero's muscles into feed for insects. Gyoro Gyoro counts him among the more hot-blooded figures in the Monster Association.

He holds that monsters stand above humans and that every last trace of humanity must be discarded, which is why he brands Garou a spineless fraud for sparing human lives during his hunts. That same arrogance makes him reckless, and he cannot resist boasting that the heroes never managed to bring Garou down while Garou's own blows barely registered against his shell.

Under orders from Gyoro Gyoro, Bug God and Royal Ripper shadow Garou to decide whether he is a true monster or merely playing the part. To force the question, they demand that he kill the boy Tareo. When Garou refuses, the two turn on him. Bug God is caught off guard by how well a mere human holds up, but once Tareo's abduction breaks Garou's focus, they beat him down. Though told to keep Garou alive, Bug God cannot rein in Royal Ripper, who savages the fallen fighter, and the group leaves believing him dead. Back at headquarters, Bug God reports that Garou flunked the test and would likely betray them later, then is warned to prepare for the coming hero assault.

During the raid on the Monster Association, Bug God squares off with Darkshine directly, hammering him with punches the hero simply catches on his elbows. Goaded by Darkshine's refusal to strike back and his open disappointment, Bug God triggers his transformation, revealing the hidden arms and throwing everything he has into the attack. Darkshine does not even guard himself, absorbing every hit without a scratch, then erases Bug God's entire upper half with a single blow.

His raw power was genuine. He could make Garou brace a punch with both hands hard enough to fracture the ground below him, launch the Hero Hunter into the air with one strike, and leave steam rising wherever his fists caught Darkshine. His shell was tough enough to injure Garou's hands on contact and shrug off deflected blade strikes, and his speed let him trade blows with Garou and even snatch one of Royal Ripper's arm-blades mid-rampage. In the webcomic, working with Royal Ripper and Senior Centipede, he came close to killing Garou outright without any distraction, though Senior Centipede died in the exchange, and afterward Garou rated him at the level of an S-Class hero.
