D-Pad's costume is built around a yellow directional pad borrowed from a game controller, the very feature that gives him his name, and he tops the look off with a red cape.

Warm and easy to approach, D-Pad enjoys genuine popularity with children, at least according to his partner Funeral Suspenders.

D-Pad has a habit of turning up just after the fighting ends. He set out to investigate the monster rumored in Z-City only to learn Saitama had already handled it, then pitched in to carry off Golden Ball. He warned Mumen Rider that a sea monster was too much for C-Class heroes, gathered at the Z-City ruins to weigh Garou's fate, and answered the alarm at the A-City headquarters when Tatsumaki clashed with Apollo.

In the extra chapter What Can't Be Bought, he and Funeral Suspenders roped off a monster's corpse and were wrongly credited with the kill, then moved to foil Bull-Bull's bank robbery. The pair downed several henchmen before the boss beat them both, after which D-Pad earned his promotion to Rank 22. Although he wields no special powers, he is a well-drilled hand-to-hand fighter able to take on several armed foes at once, and he works in close sync with Funeral Suspenders. His Suspender Storm swings his partner around like a flail by the suspenders, while his Consecutive Punches rain repeated blows on an enemy. Fittingly, his whole style draws inspiration from video games, Street Fighter most of all.
