Dr. Genus

Though he is around a hundred years old, Genus carries the look of a young man, the payoff of his own genetic tinkering. His features are sharp, his eyes blue, and his black hair is parted to the right above a pair of rectangular glasses. Before he restored his youth, he had the frame of an elderly man.

A towering intellect set Genus apart from an early age and soured him on the people around him, whom he judged primitive. Convinced that humanity had to evolve, and that he would force the change if it could not manage on its own, he chased that goal for decades. Watching Saitama overcome Carnage Kabuto shattered that belief and left him certain that he himself was the one who needed to change. By the time Zombieman later holds a blade to him, Genus, stripped of the House of Evolution and his sense of direction, no longer cares what becomes of him.

Even as a boy, Genus rejected the idea that people carry limitless potential, and life among what he saw as primitive minds felt unbearable to him. At fifteen he committed himself to pushing humanity forward and building a world that suited him. His intellect drew wide acclaim, yet no one would back his plans to mutate human beings artificially, so he pressed on alone. Around the age of seventy he cracked the secret of youth and reverted his body to its prime, then bred an army of clones to assist him, experimenting first on animals and then on humans, founding the House of Evolution and producing countless new creatures.

When Saitama demolished the beings he sent, Genus fell back on releasing his ultimate specimen, Carnage Kabuto, only to watch Saitama finish the monster with one punch. That sight convinced him to abandon artificial evolution for good. He turns up afterward running a takoyaki stand with the Armored Gorilla, having used his research into regeneration to grow octopus tentacles without limit. When Zombieman tracks him down, suspecting him of being a prophesied threat, Genus instead lays out his theory of the limiter, the internal cap that keeps a living thing's power in check, and explains how Saitama grew unthinkably strong, and bald, by breaking his own. Later still, Zombieman asks Genus to remove his limiter too, and the scientist leads him beneath the shop to begin a brutal process that leaves the hero coughing up blood. Alongside his eternal youth and his mastery of cloning, Genus ranks among the sharpest scientific minds in the setting.
