Zenko

Zenko dresses in a pale cardigan over a frock, paired with frilly knee-length socks and black Mary Jane shoes. Her glossy dark hair falls to about the chin in a Showa-era cut, pinned to one side with a clip. Fair-skinned and unmistakably related to Metal Bat, she carries many of the same facial features as her older brother.

Every bit as willful and quick-tempered as her brother, Zenko nonetheless detests violence. Her attachment to Metal Bat runs deep, and she protects him fiercely, showing striking nerve by entering an evacuated city in the middle of a crisis and even squaring off against Garou despite the danger to both their lives. For all that fire, she stays humble, refusing to brag to her schoolmates about having a hero in the family.

Zenko turns up throughout her brother's exploits, often at the least convenient moments for him. She performs at a piano recital during an alien attack, and later rings Metal Bat to demand help carrying groceries, bursting into tears when he brushes her off. Her boldest moment arrives when she throws herself between Garou and her brother, reminding the Hero Hunter that Metal Bat has sworn never to fight in front of her; Garou honors the plea and departs. Seconds afterward she knocks Metal Bat out cold with a swat to the head and drags him home. She later keeps watch at his hospital bedside and, much further on, witnesses the birth of the family cat, Tama.

Though she looks like an ordinary child, Zenko is unusually capable. She can hoist a bouquet nearly the size of her brother with a single arm, moves fast enough to leap between two clashing fighters, and plays the piano well enough to place third in a recital contest.
