The Saints

The Saints are a clandestine order that had endured for more than eight hundred years by the time of the story. Their founding purpose was singular: keep the Cruel Dragon contained and stand against the opposing Deathbone. The group came into being once the dragon was locked away using a set of sealing orbs, and its members were charged with protecting those seals in temples spread across the land.

Its warriors dress in knightly plate, each marked on the chest with an S emblem, and carry long halberd-like polearms. Though their gear looks medieval, they move with modern hardware, calling on helicopters and armored vehicles as they carry out their duty with fierce devotion.

The order steps into the plot while a convoy is ferrying one of the seals and comes under attack from Rangor, an agent of Deathbone. Saitama, who simply happens to be nearby, dispatches Rangor with ease and leaves a deep impression on the Saints. With one Deathbone operative captured, several members lay out for him the centuries of struggle between the two factions.

Saitama reasons that finishing the dragon off would be simpler than guarding it forever, so he sets about gathering every seal from the temples, which forces the Saints to try to stop him. They cannot, and instead witness the Cruel Dragon rise only to be flattened at once, an ending that fills them with overwhelming relief and joy. With their reason for existing gone, the group is presumed to have disbanded.

No individual Saints are named in the record. They function as a uniform brotherhood of armored guardians, identifiable by matching plate and the shared S insignia rather than by personal identities. Once the Cruel Dragon falls to Saitama, the entire organization is believed to have dissolved.
