Chapter 164 (Online): The Abominable Fist That Turned Against God

Garou throws his fiercest attacks at Saitama and is overpowered without effort, his monstrous body finally shattered. Sunk in despair as he reverts toward his human self, he is approached by a mysterious presence in the clouds that pours new power into him, remaking him as Awakened Garou in Cosmic Fear Mode.

Lightning Max sends the heroes on the boat to look for Tareo, and Waganma panics at the sight of Pig God bobbing in the water, mistaking him for a drowned body. Overhead, Garou hammers Saitama with a rapid barrage that flings him skyward, only to watch the hero swat his strikes aside one-handed. Haunted by the thanks of the people he keeps accidentally saving, Garou sinks into self-loathing, then drives both himself and Saitama deep into a mountain with an Extreme Fa Jin. The shock ripples through the planet's mantle and heaves up land on the far side of the globe, incidentally lifting a stranded passenger plane to safety.

In another dimension, Blast senses the attack warping Earth's magnetic and gravitational fields. Afraid the dimensional seal he and his allies guard might rupture, they scramble to reinforce it and keep God from breaking loose.

Saitama answers with Consecutive Normal Punches that blast Garou back out of the mountain and level it entirely. Baffled that nothing he tries works, Garou begins to suspect that Sage Centipede's warning about the Abominable Fist That Turned Against God was really about Saitama, not himself. Another enormous punch sends him crashing through mountains into the drained seabed. Exhausted, he condemns Saitama as the very embodiment of unfairness, and a final desperate swing is met by a punch that breaks his monster form apart.

As lenticular clouds gather, a voice calls to Garou. On the ground, Pig God has sheltered a crowd of people inside his stomach, and Mumen Rider greets a relieved Tanktop Master before everyone recoils at the strange sky. Vast feet wreathed in thunderclouds step down onto the Earth as an otherworldly figure walks toward Garou, speaking of how his deepest wish has been crushed by a single hero. When Garou demands to see its face, it turns to reveal Bang, a disguise worn by God, reaching out a hand from the darkness. As Garou reaches back toward his old master, God's colossal face rises from the clouds and grants him tremendous new power. Saitama looks up at the descending change and squints in disbelief as Garou, now a body full of stars and galaxies, announces himself as Awakened Garou: Cosmic Fear Mode.

The chapter's Japanese title is Kami ni Adanasu Imubeki Ken, released by Viz as Hateful Fists That Wrong the Gods, and it draws on parts of webcomic chapters 90, 91, and 92. Garou is the lone cover character, while Blast appears only in silhouette.

First posted online on May 12, 2022 with 43 pages, the chapter was heavily redrawn and reissued on May 24 at 55 pages. The original version ended with Saitama defeating Garou, talking sense into him, and agreeing to an impromptu therapy session.
