Sense

King is showing Saitama a hot new anime, Baked Potato Monga, about a hero who fights with baked potatoes, though Saitama is unconvinced it deserves the hype. Genos returns from the cleaners with his freshly pressed uniform, which delights Saitama and puzzles King, and Saitama reveals he has entered a Hero Costume Contest with prize money on the line. He invites King along, but King turns him down, and Saitama heads out. On the way, he and Genos come across a boy in nothing but shorts, crying because bullies who mock his tacky clothes have stolen his jacket, ticket and all. Saitama simply hands the boy his own hero uniform and sends him home.

Genos worries about how Saitama can compete now, only for Saitama to reveal a backup outfit underneath, earned by filling out a stamp card at Mouse Sushi, which appalls Genos. The contest opens with the judges introduced, and the first entrant, Darkness Blade, earns a 16 out of 30 alongside sharp criticism for his long-winded, cocky presentation. Saitama goes last, striding down the catwalk, declaring himself a B-Class hero, and offering his special power: wiggling his ears. Head judge Torajirou tears into his lack of style and brands him a terrible person on the strength of his clothing alone, refusing to let him get a word in.

Before a score can be handed down, the monster Game-Berus storms the stadium and attacks the crowd, easily downing the heroes present, until Saitama steps between it and the judges and kills it with one punch, his shirt torn from blocking the blow. The feat wins over the audience, yet he still ends with a total of 8, the lowest of anyone. Heading home, he meets the boy again, who returns the borrowed uniform with thanks, and Genos notes in his book that skill matters more than appearance. Afterward Torajirou spots his own son, Torao, in a different outfit; Torao explains that Saitama taught him never to let others dictate his tastes, which leaves Torajirou quietly rethinking his own outlook even as he keeps his low opinion of Saitama.
