Jonathan

Jonathan features in just one session, and the series gives him no distinctive design beyond his role as a fellow hunter working the same case as the Bebop crew. He is defined far more by his actions than by any detailed look.

He comes across as a determined man pushed to the edge by ruin. Sharp enough to shadow Jet and skim information from him, he is also proud and stubborn, insisting on finding the mastermind alone. When the reality of the situation refuses to match his expectations, that resolve curdles into denial and then a full breakdown.

In 2071, Jonathan loses a great deal of money to a scheme that hijacked the Astral Gates. Seeking explanations, he goes to the Gate Corporation and speaks with its CEO but comes away with nothing. On his way out he spots Jet entering and warns him the case runs deeper than it seems. Suspecting Jet might squeeze out answers, he hides and waits, and he overhears Jet learn the name of the man responsible, Hex.

Jonathan then tails the Bebop to the Bohemian Junkheap and sabotages the ship so he can reach the target by himself. When he arrives, Spike Spiegel and Faye Valentine have already found the man, who turns out to be senile and utterly baffled by the intruders. Refusing at first to believe it is anything but an act, Jonathan slowly accepts the truth, snaps, and fires his weapon wildly before being knocked out. He wakes in a daze and, without meaning to, sparks the bohemian way of life among the locals.
