Misato Ochi

Misato is a bespectacled young woman whose long brown hair is worn in a ponytail during her earlier scenes, though she later crops it to shoulder length.

Generally easygoing, Misato takes the frequent absences of Ichigo, Uryu, and Chad in stride, assuming they will each eventually turn up again, and she urges her class not to overexert themselves during the summer break. That laid-back manner has limits, however: she can be strict when it matters, forcing Ichigo to sit special make-up exams to account for how much school he has missed.

Through the Agent of the Shinigami arc, Misato runs her homeroom while Ichigo ducks out on flimsy excuses, and she defends her students to the vice-principal Kagine over the Don Kanonji broadcast, unbothered by the uproar. She sends the class off for summer with a wry warning to stay alive until September, and she welcomes the transfer student Shinji Hirako, amused when he chalks his name onto the board backwards.

When Ichigo finally resurfaces after a long stretch away, she scolds him and raps his head with a book, then fishes for a compliment on her new haircut. The anime broadens her role with filler appearances in the Bount, Amagai, and Beast Swords arcs, where she introduces further transfer students and, in one instance, wakes alongside her whole class mysteriously stranded in the mountains.
