Tsuru Itoi

Tsuru keeps her long black hair swept up in a high ponytail tied with a lavender ribbon, above dark eyes. In her Academy days she wore a black crop top and skirt beneath a yellow jacket. After making genin she switches to a collared yellow jacket over a black bodysuit, knots a pale orange forehead protector at her waist, and lets her ponytail sit lower.

Even before graduating, Tsuru grew skilled in fuinjutsu and cooperation ninjutsu. She can pin down an opponent's movements with the String Light Formation and, working with fellow users, amplify it into the Multiple String Light Formation. She also extends her own hair through the Hair Binding Technique to tie up her targets.

Calm and responsible, Tsuru moves through the Academy alongside a wide circle of classmates, from marvelling at Boruto ramming a stolen train into the Hokage Monument to gushing over the guides on a school trip to Kirigakure. During the graduation exams she is knocked out by Konohamaru and later joins a group effort to snare Kakashi in a String Light Formation; though no one takes a bell, Kakashi passes them all for their teamwork, and she is placed on Team 40 with Enko Onikuma and Doshu Goetsu. When Ibiki briefly disbands the team over the others' fear of Enko's power, Tsuru helps reach their troubled friend and win the team's reinstatement. She goes on to attempt the Chunin Exams more than once, falling short inside the Forest of Death after her squad drops into a sand pit, and she attends the memorial for the fallen of the Fourth Shinobi World War.
