History

Aobire belonged to Abi's family, who left him at home during the yearly Aqua Laguna while they sought safety, as they always had. This time the old Yagara strayed and became lost. While the Straw Hats were in Water 7, Abi begged Luffy to help search for him, and Chopper learned from another Yagara that Aobire's voice had been heard on the night of the storm, promising someone he was coming to help.

Following scraps of his scarf into the underground waterways, Abi, Luffy, and Chopper nearly drowned before a presence seemed to save them, and they realized they had reached Tsui Village, the resting place of departed Yagaras. Aobire's spirit bid Abi a grateful farewell and moved on, drawing mournful cries from the Yagaras of Water 7. Moments later the group found the baby Yagara he had died protecting, and his final wish was honored when Abi took the calf in. Aobire was last glimpsed drifting peacefully through Tsui Village. Years later, in One Piece: Stampede, he is shown riding the Puffing Ice across Delta Island.
