Appearance

Standing tall and lean with tanned skin, Law carries faint shadows beneath his yellow eyes and a smirk that seldom fades. His short, dark hair stays largely hidden under a spotted fur hat of northern make, leaving only his sideburns and a thin goatee in view. Tribal patterns wind down his arms, the letters of DEATH run one apiece across the backs of his fingers, a black cross sits on each hand, and a heart bearing his Jolly Roger rides on his chest.

Earlier in the story his outfit was a yellow hoodie marked with his crew's emblem, the sleeves pushed up, worn over spotted jeans and pointed brown shoes. His hat later took on a rounder, thicker-billed shape, and he switched to a fur-collared black hoodie layered above a yellow shirt. Every arc brought a new wardrobe: a long black coat through Punk Hazard, a hooded coat reading Corazon at the back during Dressrosa, a heart-patterned shirt on Zou, then a black-and-white yukata paired with a brown jittoku in Wano, traded for a captain's cloak over a dress shirt for the Onigashima assault.

History

Flevance, a town gutted by the untreatable Amber Lead Syndrome, was Law's birthplace. Dreading that the poorly grasped sickness might spread, surrounding nations burned the city to the ground, killing his parents and his younger sister Lami, while a boyhood Law escaped by the thinnest of margins. He went on to fall in with the Donquixote Pirates, where Doflamingo meant to groom him into an executive officer. It was the sacrifice made by Doflamingo's brother Rosinante that broke that hold and set Law on a course to tear down Doflamingo's empire.

Driven by that grudge, Law eventually threw in his lot beside Monkey D. Luffy, the pair bringing Doflamingo low and contributing to the fall of two Four Emperors. He had cooperated briefly with the Straw Hats back at the Sabaody Archipelago and saved Luffy's life in the closing moments of the Marineford Arc, then became one of their chief allies from Punk Hazard through Dressrosa, on to Zou and the Wano campaign, as well as in the films Stampede and Film: Red.

Abilities

Law commands the Heart Pirates as captain and tends them as their physician, and he sits among the dozen rookies labeled the Worst Generation. He took a seat among the Seven Warlords across the timeskip, only for the title to be stripped once he sided with the Straw Hats. As for his bounty, it started at 200,000,000 berries and later doubled to 440,000,000, after which his Warlord rank froze the figure entirely. The number returned and rose to 500,000,000 in the aftermath of Dressrosa, and Wano sent it soaring to 3,000,000,000 in recognition of his hand in defeating Big Mom beside Eustass Kid.

His Surgeon of Death moniker suits a man who is both a skilled doctor and a swordsman, one who wields an awakened Paramecia ability and draws on Armament and Observation Haki alike. A member of the Clan of D., he pursues the One Piece while also longing to learn the true meaning behind the Will of D.
