Chapter 112: Mini Mission

The group is taken aback to learn the man they escorted is actually a woman and child in disguise. She gives her name as Ai Amo and admits she is married to the chairman of the JAA, a bond that is supposed to stay hidden. Kindaka bristles at seeing ordinary civilians dragged into their world, though there is little he can do about it.

The little girl grows curious about the markings on Nagumo's hand, and Kindaka tasks Sakamoto with getting her to laugh, which he pulls off well enough. Away from the group, an unnamed assassin gathers litter from the streets, convinced the good deed wins him standing with the gods of killing. His driver finds the notion absurd, but the man holds that only the gods can rule whether a kill is just.

That assassin hurls a grenade at Sakamoto's car. Rion catches sight of it and orders Nagumo to rush the mother and daughter clear. Sakamoto tears open the car's interior, snatches the grenade, blasts a drain cover loose, and drops the explosive down the opening. He then raises his gun as the new enemy praises the rescue.

Ai Amo's identity as the JAA chairman's secret wife is exposed, deepening the students' entanglement with civilians. A new antagonist, an assassin fixated on earning the favor of killing gods, targets Sakamoto's car with a grenade, which Sakamoto disposes of down a drain. The chapter debuts Higuchi and Kobayashi.

Mini Mission closes out this stretch of Volume 13 within the Taro Sakamoto's Past Arc. It was published in issue 17 of 2023, dated March 27, 2023, across thirteen pages. The chapter follows Chapter 111 and leads into Chapter 113.
