Dark Fire

Despite carrying the label of flame, this attack burns an eerie blue rather than the expected orange. It belongs chiefly to Koan and stands as a dark counterpart to the fire ability that Sailor Mars relies on, setting the two techniques against each other whenever they meet.

Its first animated outing lands in the sixtieth episode, where Koan hurls the blue blaze to block Chibiusa's escape. The flames prove strong enough to trade blows with Fire Soul, holding their own until Rei awakens the fiercer Burning Mandala and overwhelms them. Within the role-playing title Another Story, the same move can scorch the guardians directly.

Koan is the primary caster in every showing, while Nergal picks up the technique exclusively inside the video game. One localization quirk is worth noting: the DiC English version rechristened the move Ice Fire, a nod to the cold blue shade of its flames.
