Moon Crisis, Make Up

When Usagi and Chibiusa speak this phrase in unison, the younger and older halves of the pair rise into Super Sailor Moon and Super Sailor Chibi Moon at the same moment. The call spans every major telling of the story, appearing across the printed volumes, the original animated run, the Sailor Moon Eternal Crystal features, and a range of Sera Myu stage shows.

In the manga and the Crystal films, a variant of the phrase pairs Usagi with Mamoru Chiba rather than with Chibiusa, letting Super Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask draw on it together. Later stories retire the command for Usagi in favor of stronger upgrades such as Silver Moon Crystal Power, Make Up and Moon Eternal, Make Up, while Chibiusa graduates to Pink Moon Crystal Power, Make Up.

The change is powered jointly by the Crisis Moon Compact and the Chibi Moon Compact, with the Holy Grail added as the trigger in the Crystal version. In the printed Eclipse Dream chapter, the two girls simply clasp hands, thrust them skyward, speak the words, and stand transformed a heartbeat later.

The animated and Crystal sequences run longer and match each other closely. Both Compacts float forward and open to show the crystals nested inside, which flash in sequence as though one answers the other. The pair appear with the Compacts fixed to their chests, then spin as sheer pink ribbons wrap into their leotards. Standing back to back, they gain their skirts, boots, and gloves; turning to face one another, they receive the remaining ornaments and tiaras before settling into a closing pose.

Usagi Tsukino and Chibiusa are the phrase's central pair, though the source notes they could each invoke it alone when needed, something the manga confirms and which the SuperS season once handled off screen. Despite that flexibility, the first animated adaptation never produced a solo change sequence for either guardian.

English localizations reworked the name several times, calling it Moon Cosmic Dream Action in the CWI dub and Super Moon Crisis Power in the SuperS film. When the studio first teased Sailor Moon Eternal in 2019, the promotional image showed the two heroines locked in the manga's post-transformation stance tied to this command.
