Shabon Spray Freezing

This technique is a stronger take on Mercury's basic Shabon Spray, appearing in the 1990s anime and a handful of tie-in games. Where the earlier move simply clouded the field, this version drops the temperature so far that the fog itself becomes a weapon, sealing any target caught within it in solid ice. It keeps the screening effect of the original while adding an offensive freeze.

Mercury conjures the freezing haze the same way she summons ordinary fog, but the cold snap that follows encases enemies rather than merely hiding them. In Sailor Moon R she puts it to work against the Cardian Amaderasu during the fifty-third episode, freezing the creature outright. The move was later folded into its own upgrade, Double Shabon Spray Freezing.

Sailor Mercury is the sole user. Beyond the anime the attack turned up in games including Sailor Moon R and Another Story on the Super Famicom. Its dubbed names varied by release: DiC titled it Mercury Ice Bubbles Freeze, while Viz went with Bubble Spray Freezing. Like a small set of Mercury's other moves, it belongs to the group of attacks the Japanese version does not voice entirely in English.
