Silence Glaive Surprise

Silence Glaive Surprise is an energy attack channeled by Super Sailor Saturn through her Silence Glaive, and it recurs across the manga, the original anime, Crystal, and the stage musicals. In its printed and Crystal forms it takes shape as an enormous burst of energy fired straight from the weapon. Given how closely Saturn ties the move to the power of destruction, it is sometimes read as her ultimate strike, one capable of ending all life and clearing the way for a new beginning, though the story never confirms this outright.

The core of the technique is a massive energy blast released from the glaive. Saturn can also escalate it: in the Stars arc she pours the destructive force of the Galactica Bracelets into the move to create Galactica Glaive Surprise. The energy is potent enough that using it at full power appears to carry a lethal cost to Saturn herself.

Super Sailor Saturn is the lone user. In the manga and Crystal she turns it on the Amazoness Quartet at the Dead Moon Circus while standing beside Super Sailor Chibi Moon, meaning it as a final warning to the corrupted guardians to recall who they truly are before she finishes them, and she later aims it at Sailor Galaxia within Charon Castle. The anime shows her raising it as a last resort against Queen Nehellenia, only for Super Sailor Chibi Moon to stop her mid-cast, with Chibiusa suggesting the full strike would have cost Saturn her life. She also brings it out in several musicals, including a bout against the Snow Dancers.
