Appearance

She takes a womanly, human-like shape marked by purple skin and hair of blue. Her outfit runs to orange broken up with sections of yellow. Her name riffs on Amaterasu, the sun goddess of Shinto belief, a link reinforced by her habit of emerging from the sun itself.

Abilities

Flight comes naturally to her, and she can seal victims inside bubbles or lash out with fine threads that siphon away their energy. She is equally capable of firing off potent beams of light, and she tends to materialize without warning, drain those nearby, then vanish just as abruptly.

History

When the energy drawn from children proves too little for the Makai Tree, Ail and An turn their attention to babies and send Amaderasu against a daycare. Rising out of the sun, she binds a cluster of infants and their minders in her threads to feed on them, and among her victims is Manami's Mother, which leaves Usagi and Mamoru looking after the baby Manami. Amaderasu later goes after more infants, but the Sailor Guardians step in. She slips past Sailor Venus's Crescent Beam and fells Mars, Jupiter, and Venus with a burst of light, then bleeds off the energy of Mercury and Sailor Moon until the Moonlight Knight cuts her face with a rose. Mercury freezes her solid with Shabon Spray Freezing, and Sailor Moon ends her with the Cutie Moon Rod's Moon Princess Halation.
