Amazon Trio

The three share a common origin as ordinary animals granted human bodies, and each can shift freely between his beast and human shapes. Their names all borrow from real gemstones, matching each member to his animal root: Tiger's Eye, Hawk's Eye, and Fish Eye. In the manga they carry a more feminine, flamboyant air than their anime versions, and Fish Eye in particular reads androgynous enough that many overseas dubs recast him as a woman.

Within the anime the trio behave as rivals as much as allies, each taking his turn to hunt while needling the others in the process. Their tastes divide the work between them: Tiger's Eye and Hawk's Eye chase women, with Tiger's Eye favoring younger girls and Hawk's Eye older ones, while Fish Eye pursues men. For most of their run they have no memory of ever having been animals, and they remain ignorant of the larger forces steering them until those secrets are forced upon them.

In the manga, the animals belong to VesVes of the Amazoness Quartet, who keeps a fish, a tiger, and a hawk among her menagerie. Sensing an intruder testing their barrier after arriving in Azabu-Juban, she looses the tiger to stir up trouble in Tokyo, drawing out Super Sailor Moon and Super Sailor Chibi Moon. Pleased with her pets, she has PallaPalla grant them human shapes, and the three set out to infect the guardians with Lemures while the barrier blocks their transformations. Fish Eye stalks Ami, Hawk's Eye targets Makoto, and Tiger's Eye goes after Rei, but each falls once his quarry attains a super form and turns a new attack against him. Their appearance in Sailor Moon Eternal follows this outline with adjustments, including a later shift into human form and reworked confrontations.

The anime recasts them as leading henchmen of Zirconia through the first half of Sailor Moon SuperS. There they are charged with locating the dreamer sheltering Helios so they can seize the Golden Crystal, sorting through Zircon's photographs in a bar inside the circus tent to pick each target. One of them draws out a chosen victim's Dream Mirror to search it for Pegasus, conjuring a Lemures from his own shadow whenever the guardians interfere. Only when Zirconia tells them do they learn they were once beasts remade by a magic orb, and Queen Nehelenia warns them through the front of her robe that failure will return them to those forms for good. After Fish Eye uncovers that Usagi is Sailor Moon and Chibiusa holds Pegasus, his report misleads Zirconia into suspecting Usagi and sending Hawk's Eye against her. Judging the trio spent, Zirconia summons the Lemures Mr. Magic Pierrot, who shatters Usagi's Dream Mirror and hurls a spade at Fish Eye, only for Hawk's Eye to leap into its path. Tiger's Eye and Fish Eye surrender the power keeping them human to mend the mirror, letting Sailor Moon rise and destroy the Lemures, and the sacrifice costs them their lives as all three revert to animal. Pegasus restores them, returns their human shapes, and grants each his own Dream Mirror before they drift off as orbs of energy toward a crystal forest in Elysion.
