Crystal Power

Crystal Power functions as the unseen energy that shields Crystal Tokyo, expressed through a defensive barrier drawn over the whole of the city. Its strength flows from nine Crystal Points, the anchoring foundations upon which the metropolis is built, and that same reserve is understood to guard the royal palace at its heart.

The nature of Crystal Power is entirely protective. It exists to keep the city sealed against outside threats, and its reliability rests wholly on the nine points remaining intact. Should even the foundations be compromised, the shield it feeds is believed to fail.

The Black Moon Clan uncovers a way to attack the source at its root. By tracing where the Crystal Points are destined to form in the future and locating those same spots in the present day, the villains taint the sites with Dark Power so they can never mature into true Crystal Points, a scheme meant to leave the barrier powerless. Although the full set of nine is referenced, only six of the locations are ever shown in the animated version. In the end the plan collapses when the guardians of the present era intervene and undo the corruption.
