The Lake Yokai is a malevolent water spirit featured only in episode 40 of the original anime. Born from a heartbroken girl's jealousy and sealed beneath a lake, she is roused to serve the Dark Kingdom before Sailor Moon heals her and frees her soul.
The Lake Yokai surfaces as an evil water spirit, taking on a monstrous true form once she is awakened. Her original self is far gentler, no more than the spirit of an ordinary young woman.
What defines the Yokai is the raw jealousy and hatred that created her. According to the legend behind the character, a young woman was cast aside by the man she loved in favor of another, and the bitterness of that rejection twisted her into a monster who turned on her own village. Even after she is bound to the Dark Kingdom's cause, she remains an uncontrollable force of resentment rather than a loyal servant.

Naruto vs Luffy with the twist nobody asked for: Luffy tickled Hinata on date night, and she kind of liked it. We break down the whole fight and commit to a winner....

There are no women on Namek. That isn't an oversight, it's the biology. Why we handed Piccolo the one thing his own species rules out, and why it had to be trap soul....
Long ago, the villagers' legend says, the spirit was sealed inside the lake by the very man she loved and the other woman, the two of them remembered afterward as legendary lovers. In episode 40, the corrupted Prince Endymion revives her to fight for the Dark Kingdom, yet he cannot bend her to his command. She lashes out at Tuxedo Mask and the Sailor Guardians until Sailor Moon uses Moon Healing Escalation to cleanse her, restoring the girl's spirit. Her heart purified, she rises to the heavens at last. She stands as the second monster Sailor Moon faces with no tie to a season's main villains, following Sakiko's Ghost.
