Miss Dream

Miss Dream wears her dark hair in a chin-length bob that closely mirrors Hotaru Tomoe's cut, and her skin carries a faintly washed-out tone. Through most of the show a full white cloak conceals her body, and only late in the performance does she cast it off to reveal a red dress with pale red sleeves, a white bow, matching shorts, and white shoes. A pendant marked with a sun emblem hangs at her neck at all times. In the Revised Edition the covering is reworked with more detail, reading more like a white gown.

Held prisoner by Zirconia, Miss Dream is a downtrodden figure who is bullied by the troupe's other performers and made to turn her gift toward the Dead Moon's schemes. Usagi comes to pity the teenager and resolves to rescue her, while the Outer Guardians, fearing she carries the awakening spirit of Sailor Saturn, instead want her dead. Her quiet, victimized presence and the riddle of who she really is drive much of the drama around her.

Because her name reflects her gift, Miss Dream commands dreams and nightmares, and Zirconia exploits this to search for Pegasus, keeping her captive and forcing her to serve. After she tries to invade Chibiusa's dreams and is stopped by the Outer Guardians, they suspect she is the reborn Guardian of Silence and set out to end her before that spirit can rise. Drawing on Pegasus' power, Tuxedo Mask and a Super-form Sailor Chibi Moon slip into her heart to discover her true self, and the remaining Guardians soon trail after them.

The venture turns out to be a trap set by the Dead Moon, and the party is ambushed by Zirconia, Miss Dream, and Queen Nehelenia, the girl now bent to the wills of Nehelenia and Zirconia. Tuxedo Mask gives his life to shield her, and her awakening starts, though what follows splits between the two productions. The original staging shows her only as a normal girl at the close, leaving it uncertain whether Sailor Saturn ever stirred inside her. The Revised Edition instead has her change into Sailor Saturn and turn her lethal power to the Guardians' aid, and there Sailor Pluto confirms she is Hotaru through the sun pendant.
