Prince Demande

Silvery hair frames hazel eyes, and the clan's Black Moon sign sits at the center of his forehead. He favors a white jacket fitted with a pale crystal near the collar and a matching white cape lined in blue underneath. Whenever he channels his hypnotic power at Usagi or Sailor Moon, that forehead mark shifts into an open third eye.

For most of the series Demande is a haughty conqueror who wants Sailor Moon not merely beaten but seated beside him as his queen, and he twice tries to bend her will toward that end. Beneath the arrogance, though, lies a genuine attachment. His feelings for her prove real, and his final turn against Wiseman springs as much from grief over Saphir as from wounded pride.

Demande leads the Black Moon Clan's push to erase Crystal Tokyo, then redirects the campaign toward twentieth-century Tokyo. He first sends Rubeus into the past, but the Sailor Guardians destroy him together with his ship, and Esmeraude, who carries a torch for the prince, fares no better despite repeated attempts. When Saphir uncovers that Wiseman is merely exploiting them and tries to warn his brother, Wiseman strikes him down.

Demande makes two bids to hypnotize Sailor Moon into becoming his bride, once nearly kissing her before Tuxedo Mask pulls her clear, and again almost winning until her memories of her friends and Mamoru let her break loose. She uses that opening to warn him of Wiseman's treachery. Enraged to learn that Saphir was murdered for the same warning, he rounds on Wiseman, and when the sorcerer aims two blades of dark energy at Sailor Moon, Demande dives in front of her and takes the strike, shattering Wiseman's arms in return before the villain reforms. Dying from the wound, he confesses that he truly loved her as a person. The DiC English release renamed him Prince Diamond.
