Queen Badiane

Naoko Takeuchi's notes describe a figure studded with star anise, the spice worn as ornaments across her body and even fashioned into earrings. Wings and more of it press directly against the skin of her chest. Her hair, shaped to suggest twisted loaves of bread, is pitch black, and so is her skirt. Some viewers have noted that she carries a faint resemblance to Sailor Galaxia.

A single hunger drives everything she does, and that is raw power. She treats the dreams of children as nothing more than fuel and shows no hesitation about draining them. Her ultimate design is a Black Dream Hole grown vast enough to consume the world entirely, so that all of creation finally answers to her alone.

As the antagonist of Sailor Moon SuperS: The Movie, Badiane schemes to abduct children and carry them to Marzipan Castle, where she locks them in Dream Coffins and taps the energy of their dreams to power the Black Dream Hole. To gather her victims she recruits four fairies, Perle, Poupelin, Banane, and Orangeat, who lull children into a trance with an enchanted flute melody and summon Bonbon Babies against anyone who interferes. Perle later turns away from her after growing fond of Chibiusa.

Among the abducted children is Chibiusa, whose energy proves extraordinary, so Badiane singles her out as the key to opening the Black Dream Hole. With Perle guiding them, the Sailor Guardians battle through the other fairies and reach the queen, who badly outmatches them. Sailor Moon slips into the Black Dream Hole and is at once sealed in a Dream Coffin, lost in an illusion of life with Mamoru, but she tears herself free. She fights on to the unconscious Chibiusa and is wounded shielding her, though the Silver Crystal's light pierces the darkness and reaches the others. The Guardians pour their strength into Sailor Moon and Sailor Chibi Moon, who wakes, and together the two unleash Moon Gorgeous Meditation to shatter both the Black Dream Hole and Badiane.
