Queen Metalia

During the strike on the Moon Kingdom she first appears as an enormous shadowy figure with glowing yellow eyes and a blue mouth. Partly roused in the modern day, she takes a new shape inside an orange cocoon, her essence rendered as black mist that swirls in patterns like radio waves. In the finale she bursts free and fully possesses Beryl to become Super Beryl, wearing a scarlet dress with pale teal skin and dark blue hair, and towering roughly fifty to a hundred feet tall.

Late in the Silver Millennium, strange sunspots break out across the sun, and Metalia is born from them, sensing the turmoil within Beryl, a human on Earth. Seizing on Beryl's envy of the bond between Prince Endymion and Princess Serenity, she corrupts the sorceress into igniting a war between Earth and the Moon. Her power drives the assault that levels the Moon Kingdom, killing the Inner Guardians along with Serenity and Endymion, until Queen Serenity uses the Moon Stick and the Silver Crystal to seal the Dark Kingdom and Metalia away and reincarnate the guardians.

In the present, Beryl and the Dark Kingdom return without Metalia, so Beryl sets Jadeite and Nephrite to harvesting the energy that eventually revives her. Metalia then directs Beryl to gather the Rainbow Crystals and rouse the seven great monsters to find the Silver Crystal, the piece needed to finish her own awakening. When Serenity reawakens and Tuxedo Mask is brought before her, Metalia knows him as the reborn Endymion and floods him with dark energy to enslave him. It later emerges that once the sunspots blanket the sun again, her revival will be complete, aligning as they did when the Moon Kingdom fell and threatening the same fate for Earth. In the finale Beryl begs her for power, and Metalia possesses her into Super Beryl to battle Princess Serenity in the Arctic, until Serenity, lifted by her friends spirits, channels the Silver Crystal into Moon Prism Power, an attack that wipes out both of them and takes her own life as well.

Unusually for a top-level villain, Metalia displays little offensive power of her own. Beyond her sheer capacity to destroy the Earth, her defining act is pouring her dark energy into others, Beryl and Mamoru among them, to twist them into servants of the Dark Kingdom. Her bond with Beryl is peculiar in that Beryl ranks below her yet remains the hand she must work through, since Metalia rarely issues orders directly.
