Redman

Redman is styled after the masked crusaders of Japanese live action television, the very sort of suited defender the franchise gently pokes fun at. Observers have pointed out that one of his stances closely echoes the trademark pose of Kamen Rider Ichigo, while his overall look tips its hat to sentai and Kamen Rider shows as well as the Red Power Ranger. Two signature moves round out his repertoire, a straightforward Redman Punch and a kicking maneuver dubbed the Redman Leg Attack. By coincidence he carries the same name as a separate monster fighting hero produced by Tsuburaya Productions.

Within the story he plays the part of a heroic entertainer, a justice minded showpiece paraded before an adoring crowd at a promotional event. The figure is a staged performance rather than a genuine superhuman, and the person filling the suit is simply an actor engaged for the role.

The character belongs entirely to the animated series. In the middle of a promotional gathering, the actor wearing the Redman costume caught the attention of Zoisite, who was hunting for an opening to turn Naru Osaka into a monster. Instead, Zoisite warped the performer into a Youma called Akan. Once Sailor Moon reversed the change and returned the man to himself, the event resumed without further disruption.
