Let's Become a Princess: Usagi's Bizarre Training

Hoping to carry herself more like the princess she is meant to be, Usagi decides to sign up for the Princess Seminar hosted at the Rose Mansion by Countess Rose.

Late to school as usual, Usagi is dazzled by three wealthy, polished girls arriving by car, whom Naru identifies as students of the seminar. During English class Usagi dozes off and dreams of Princess Serenity holding court, admired by all and asked to dance by Tuxedo Mask; she blurts a haughty line aloud on waking and is sent to stand in the hall. There she resolves to behave more like a princess, though she admits her real motive is the chance to dance with Tuxedo Mask.

Elsewhere, Beryl asks Endymion to work alongside Kunzite, but both insist on acting alone. Luna, meanwhile, discovers that the guidance she has been receiving through her computer came all along from Artemis in a headset. Sneaking around the Rose Mansion with Luna, Usagi is caught spying and asks to join. Countess Rose waives the usual member introduction and admits her on the odd condition of throwing a Frisbee well, a skill at which Usagi happens to excel. Ami, Rei, Makoto and Minako soon enroll too, since Artemis warns that Usagi must grow refined enough to wield the Silver Crystal.

Usagi flounders through etiquette lessons, slurping soup and fumbling a coffee-serving test to the other girls' laughter. At the final dance lesson she, Rei and Minako tread on their partners' feet and fail, while Ami and Makoto pass gracefully. The successful pupils are led to a room full of lifelike figures, where Countess Rose reveals herself as a youma and sprays wax to freeze the girls solid, Ami and Makoto included. Endymion and Kunzite arrive and quarrel over whether to take the Silver Crystal or kill Sailor Moon, distracting the monster. Sailor Moon offers the confused youma coffee, catches it off guard, and restores it to Countess Rose with Moon Healing Escalation, freeing all the wax-bound girls.

Hiromichi Matano directed the episode from a script by Shigeru Yanagawa, and it first aired in Japan on December 19, 1992. The DiC dub, titled Little Miss Manners, reached North America on October 25, 1995. The story is entirely anime-original with no manga counterpart, and it marks the first appearance of the youma Shakoukai. Its failing-dance music is a distorted rendition of the waltz from Leo Delibes' ballet Coppelia.
